Richard Smith is celebrated for his hard work, unassuming manner, and avid attachment and dedication in his brilliant music. Richard Smith’s career, to date, has extended several years and includes a Global Music Award honour for the single I Got the Power on 18 September 2017.
Richard Smith have released three studio albums: Richard Smith’s Story (2016), the Akademia Music Award for his best album for Smith’s Story (2016) and the Attempted Murder on Richard Smith (2018). A Bit of HIstory
Richard Smith met Martin Bellamy for the first time in 1977 and they spend a few years singing and writing songs in Richard Smith’s parent’s garage. However, they broke up but Richard Smith continued to put his songs to record to a studio in Adelaide. It was here in 1981 where Richard Smith met greatest musician-Charli Holoubek- who helped him to record those beaming songs with Charli’s own bands.
Richard Smith’s first songs he recorded were Jet Jet Black, Baby you’ve been lying to me and O at O I’m Falling in love in 1981. Other songs he recorded were between 1982 to 1991 such as I Got the Power (1982), I need your love (1983), Working in the Workforce (1984) Story (1985), What a Wonderful world (1989), Blue Moon, Reconsider baby, Too Much (1991) and later Can’t helping Falling In Love, Unchained Melody (2015) and You’ll never walk alone (2017).
After a long years of recording and playing various bars and nightclubs in Adelaide, Richard Smith left Adelaide to Gold Coast. From that he released his first album in 2016.The album was called Richard Smith’s Story which cited his influences such as The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Solomon Burke, B.B. King, Frank Sinatra, Chuck Berry and Lowell Fulson. Also, this mix original and covered of Australian- British-American influenced and a indie-sound was something totally new for Australia and the world. Richard Smith quickly became known as one of the freshest sounding song-writers on the scene, paving the way for the album which would cement his success and catapult him to be the stars he is today – the studio album Smith’s Story .
Smith’s Story was released in 2016 and showcased Richard Smith as a top songwriters and a great singer on the scene. The album is a joyful and Rock n Roll and ballad music which had influenced of the media and over societies in the world. The single “I got the power” was used in the Youtube which exposed Richard Smith music to his first international audience and secured him a worldwide licensing deal with the international division of CD Baby, which covered the territories of the world.
Smith’s Story won The Akademia Music Award 2016 for Best Rock Americana Album in Los Angeles and spawned numerous hits, making it one of Richard Smith’s most important albums. It shifted Richard Smith from indie status to stars which adored by his fans. Constantly pushing the envelope of his artistry and by now recognised as one of the hardest working artiste in the industry, Richard Smith as now recorded his third album Attempted Murder on Richard Smith, which was released in 2018.
After more years of writing, getting married, having children, and working, Richard Smith, as been re-energised as well optimistic music , ready for another 20 years of making rock ‘n’ roll history.
